Songes D’une Nuit... is a vibrant and colorful play that blends the magical with the comedic, creating a contrast between the night—a realm of fantasies, dreams, and illusions—and the rigid, conservative reality of the daytime world. The story follows Lysander and Demetrius, who are both in love with Hermia. Hermia has chosen Lysander, but Demetrius is loved by Helena. To escape their conflicts, the four young lovers flee into a forest, where, under the cover of night, reality blurs into a dream thanks to the effects of a powerful love potion. In this mysterious and magical forest, fairies, elves, and a group of amateur actors rehearsing Pyramus and Thisbe for the Prince's wedding, along with men transformed with donkey heads, all cross paths. This enchanted place, where anything is possible during a single summer night, allows the young lovers to break free from the strict demands of their families and follow their wildest passions. The play is structured around the Baroque concept of a "play within a play," offering a deep reflection on theater itself and paying tribute to its art.
With an open and innovative stage design, Dreams of a Night... invites the audience to experience a special connection betwe
en the performers and the viewers. The play is designed to encourage joy, interaction, and participation, creating a moment of pure theatrical delight by incorporating all forms of stage arts. It’s a true celebration of theater!
